Creating an Audible version of my book has been one of the most challenging – and rewarding – experiences of my life! What started as an exciting project quickly turned into a rollercoaster of hurdles, testing my patience, resilience, and determination every step of the way.
There were moments when I seriously wondered if it was all worth it. First, there was the mountain of forms to fill out, each one more fiddly than the last. Then came the recording and editing process, which was painstaking but rewarding in its own right. But the real test? Uploading the files! Every single attempt was rejected at first, and it felt so overwhelming, as if all the hours I’d spent perfecting the chapters had been for nothing.
This is where tenacity came in. I talk about this quality in the book, and it turns out, I had to rely on it in abundance to get through this process. Slowly but surely, I figured out the issues, made the fixes, and kept going, one small step at a time.
And finally, the day came when everything was ready to submit: the cover artwork, the edited chapters, and even a sample for prospective listeners. Seeing it all come together was such a moment of pride.
Now, the approval process is underway, which takes about 10 days. I’m hoping to get the green light before the festive break – what a gift that would be!
